Research and Development Coordinator

Responsibility: Reports to President/CEO

  • Overall responsibility to merge market demands with effective food science and animal nutrition to develop products that meet the needs of our customers. 
  • Provide market and animal nutrition insight for the development of successful products. 
  • Oversees formulation adjustments, product evaluations, and new product development, design, testing, compliance, and launch activities. 
  • Manage existing and new product formulation and production parameters. 
  • Ensure products ready for market have compliant labeling and meet package claims. 
  • Conduct production trials, troubleshooting, and process improvement to arrive at a market-ready product. 
  • Incorporate customer feedback and market demands into product design. 
  • Provide technical sales support. 
  • Work effectively on multidisciplinary teams within the company and with external customers and suppliers to accomplish project objectives. 
  • Ensure the production team has the resources they need to execute and document their production runs based on product quality/consistency and food safety programs. 
  • Record and compile trial production results and analysis and laboratory test results. 
  • Coordinate with Regulatory Compliance Manager and Production Manager to ensure production SOPs are followed and food safety records are documented. 

 Authority 

  • Request production runs of product or trial runs of products in development. 
  • Submit product and environmental samples for third-party testing. 
  • Coordinate new vendor and material approval and documentation. 
  • Oversee QA Technicians and R&D Technicians. 
  • Retain non-conforming product and assign Retain/Reject tags.
